UB fire incident

It was a sad day for me looking at my alma mater burning like hell. The old high school building of University Of Baguio is made of wood even it's posts and beams are made of wood. The fire started around 11:50 am and everyone around me was screaming. My workplace is located where I took this photos.

Sad thing, this is already the event when fire fighters finally arrived in the scene.

In less than an hour, our old high school building is gone forever. I was hoping they would change the building into concrete when I graduated from high school from this school 14 years ago because during that time I had a hunch that this incident might happen.

My hunch happened February 16, 2008 but I never wished or even prayed for it to happen. To all my batch mates in high school, here's whats left from our old wooden school.

White Rabbit Candy

The very famous white rabbit candy, a candy that I loved and hoped to always have during my childhood days, recently it was found to have formaldehyde by BFAD. I hope this incident would be resolved soon.

Global Warming

Global warming is caused by trapped heat from the sun due to excessive carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and it also has some serious effects on the earth. Global warming melts the polar ice both north and south causing a rise in the sea level. Sea-level rise will add to stresses coastal communities are already facing, including erosion, storms, and pressures from development. Human health may be threatened as heat waves, extreme weather, and vector-borne diseases become more prevalent.

The benefits of global warming are much less obvious and do not benefit the whole but just a small fraction of persons. Undoubtedly, the negative effect’s out weigh the benefits. Sadly, global warming cannot be stopped. There are ways to help reduce emissions, hopefully slowing down the warming process, maybe even stabilizing the problem. Many expert scientists argue that we presently have the technology to stop the emission of the fossil fuels. These resources include wind, solar and nuclear energy to conservation techniques. Implementing the measures could generate economic benefits, including creating new industries, and lessening the need for other pollution-control expenses associated with burning coal and other fossil fuels.

I think that several people realize the seriousness of this problem, but it is difficult or impossible to reverse the process. Human beings depend on such things as oil and gasoline, which unfortunately pollute the atmosphere with emissions. I think that the best way to deal with this problem is to make younger generations become more informed and educated about global warming, and the serious threat it poses on our earth. We only have one earth to live on; if we continue to abuse its resources then soon enough it will no longer be a suitable place to live.
